II.        Review of Old Business

  1. Minutes from the June 1 meeting were discussed and approved with the addition of Richard Haugh to the list of patrollers in attendance.

¡¤         As an update to the June 1 minutes, Dave noted that several patrol members completed CPR training during the training he conducted on June 8 and 9.  Ned reminded everyone that for those new patrollers that they would not be qualified to patrol until CPR training was completed.

¡¤         Ned asked if anyone knew whether Sonny had obtained a date for our golf tournament.

¡¤         Mark Devoe was supposed to have purchased items for the training backpacks.

¡¤         Ned said he followed up with NSP on all patrollers and we should be receiving updated OEC cards as a result.  However, he could not do anything about the delinquent OEC training for the recent candidates until Stan Lobdell, as the Instructor of Record, closes out the training by submitting an end-of-course record with NSP.

  1. Treasurer¡¯s Report:  Dave Ayersman passed out a detailed statement on the current patrol finances.
  2. Staff & Committee Reports:  Raul gave an overview of equipment issues.

¡¤         When all radios are returned they will be taken to Motorola for checking and servicing.  All patrollers should return any radios and chargers that are still checked out.  Several chargers seem to be unaccounted for.  Raul noted that the patrol may want to consider purchasing several new docking station chargers (59,000 won/unit), power adapters (12,000 won/unit) or batteries (45,000 won/unit). Ned suggested that Raul prepare a written proposal of the radio items (and costs) the patrol may want to consider buying for discussion at a future meeting.

¡¤         Ned suggested the patrol should buy a Sager traction splint to have for training and/or use by patrollers.

III.  New Business

  1. Recruiting:  Saundra commented that Patrol participation in past summer events on Yongsan has served as a good recruiting tool.  Saundra mentioned that she has been in contact with AFN to publicize and recruit candidates for the Patrol.  The possibility of holding a ski swap in October or November to publicize the Patrol was discussed.
  2. Fall Training:  The value of beginning OEC training several weeks earlier in 2005 was discussed.
  3. OEC Refresher:  Ned noted that the Instructor¡¯s guide for the next OEC refresher (Cycle A) was issued.  Stan Phillips volunteered to coordinate the next OEC refresher.  As part of ongoing training and refresher activities, Dave noted that CPR training videos are available at the library.  Saundra added that it might be worthwhile for the patrol to build a library of training videos.  Richard suggested including a list of available training material on the Patrol¡¯s website.  Ned said he had a copy of the latest NSP ski and toboggan training  video.
  4. Open Forum:

¡¤         Richard suggested that the patrol could place free ads in the Morning Calm to publicize and recruit for the Patrol.

¡¤         A suggestion to add the Patrol¡¯s link to the Eighth Army website (and other websites directed toward newcomers) was made.

IV.       The meeting was adjourned at 1943hrs.
